The Kotrotsis family from the Costa Navarino region and olive cultivation in Greece
The Kotrotsis family's olive groves are located in the small village of Korifasio in the Kalamata region. This region is located in the southwest of the country and is the second-largest olive-growing region in Europe.
The village of Korifasio, right next to Costa Navarino, is a classic olive village, a common sight in Greece. A large portion of the population here makes a living from olive cultivation, including our producers. The family acquired their land through a combination of inheritance and purchase, and later invested in their own mill, thus maintaining complete control over the production process.
The location is also very close to the coast on the Peloponnese peninsula, so not only do the blooming olive fields offer a stunning view, but the view of the beaches and holiday areas is also unforgettable.

Harvest time is by far the busiest time in the Kotrotsis family's fields. From November to January, not only are the fields harvested, but the processing equipment also works around the clock – including Sundays and holidays.
Only rain allows for a break. In this region of Greece, heavy rains can last for days, which not only allows the workers to recover from their stressful work but also ensures a good harvest in the next growing season .
The Kotrotsis family from the village of Korifasio owns its own mill and makes it available to other olive producers in their village on the Peloponnese peninsula. Other farmers in the region then bring their harvest to the Kotrotsis mill, and instead of receiving monetary compensation, they receive a share of the olive oil produced.
This practice is found in many olive-growing regions and is based primarily on the trust between the farmers and the owners of the olive mills. The Kotrotsis family places great importance on adhering to agreements and thus reinforcing the farmers' decision to produce with them.
But it's not just the mill that's run with great care; the fields are also lovingly tended and cultivated to ensure a good harvest. Stylianos and his sons care for the olive trees, keeping them in good condition and protecting them from pest infestation. Since the Kotrotsis family's production is fully certified organic, only approved methods are used.
